Coach PAM DANIS - YOUTH COORDINATOR & GIRLS PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Few coaches bring the level of experience, leadership, and passion for youth development that Coach Pam Danis offers to the Chilliwack Basketball Association.
Pam's basketball journey is nothing short of remarkable. As a player, she captained the University of Winnipeg Wesmen to three national championships and established herself as one of Canada's most respected athletes. Her outstanding contributions to the game were recognized with her induction into the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame, a testament to the lasting impact she has made on basketball in Canada.
Following her playing career, Pam dedicated herself to developing the next generation of athletes. She spent 12 years as the Head Coach of the University of Manitoba Women's Basketball Program, helping student-athletes excel both academically and athletically. During her time at the university, she also served as a faculty member in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management and was elected President of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, further demonstrating her leadership within the Canadian basketball community.
What truly sets Pam apart is her commitment to creating opportunities for young people. She founded the Big Country Basketball Academy and developed "Running with the Bison," an innovative outreach program designed to introduce and support Indigenous youth through sport. Her dedication to community development has earned numerous accolades, including a University of Manitoba Community Service Award and Ontario's prestigious "Leading Women, Building Communities" Award.
Pam's background in education is equally impressive. Holding both Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts degrees, she has taught in both public and independent schools and understands how to create positive, engaging learning environments where every child can thrive. She is a passionate advocate for access, equity, and inclusion in sport and believes every young athlete deserves the opportunity to develop confidence, skills, and a lifelong love of physical activity.
As Youth Coordinator and Girls Program Director, Pam combines elite basketball knowledge with a nurturing, athlete-centered approach. Parents value her ability to build confidence, foster leadership, and create an environment where athletes feel supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their potential.
Pam's mission is simple: to help every athlete become not only a better basketball player, but a stronger, more confident person. Through her decades of experience as a player, coach, educator, and community leader, she continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of young athletes throughout our community.
